Ah HA! Fuel injectors are clogged or something like the fuel pump is going out.

If it only does it when it shifts I know whats going on. I have an autoshift in my Volvo too. I asked my mechanic and he said the tranny and the jake are tied in together. When it shifts it "belches" and it is the jake engageing to slow down the rpms. It does it with out the Jake being on. This is my experience, hope it helps!!!
